Sand swept Namibia has so much to offer that 2 journeys are ideally needed. Given the great distances of the country, if possible it is better to fly. Driving has its rewards but it is tiring. The shimmering mirages, the still heat, the vastness of the land and dunes can easily hypnotize you if driving for too long. The deep cold blue of the Atlantic brings in the morning and evening mists, shrouding the coast in silent mystery. The seals and birdlife abound on this coast and they are replaced by the soft golden sand as one moves inland. Try a hike or just view the second largest canyon in the world, the Fish River Canyon. Head to the center of the country for some European culture in Windhoek. Or head to the northern parts for wildlife splendor at Etosha and Caprivi. Any way you go, Namibia is sure to captivate you with its unique charm.
