Lesotho

Encircled by mountains and land locked by South Africa, the small country is know as "Kingdom of the Sky" or "Mountain Kingdom". The Basotho people were forced into these mountains as they are a peaceful people and chose not to fight the Zulu Warriors who were expanding their kingdom. Having settled here they live simple, traditional lives at the foothills of the mountains. A trip to Lesotho is really best experience on foot or by pony. Almost no fences divide the country and the people are hospitable and friendly. While summers are hot here the mountains can bring in quick, cold and wet weather. Lesotho's peaks reach over 3000 meters and even the lowest regions are above 1000 meters.
