WESTERN CAPE
The Western Cape is truly a kaleidoscope of colors, nature, heritage and wine - just about anything you can think of. There are an abundance of jaw-dropping views and culinary delights; places to dance and beaches to loaf on; mountains to hike and wildlife to be enjoyed. The Western Cape has it all. The Mother City, Cape Town, lies snuggly between Table Mountain and Table Bay. It has all the delights of a modern city set in a natural wonder setting. "Sundowners" - watching the sun set with a glass of something, is a favorite pastime of Cape Tonians. This is done from the beach, the mountains, a boat or a home balcony.
Following the Southern coast past the beach towns of Sommerset West and Gordons Bay, will take you around the hook of False Bay to the whale watching haven of Hermanus. Every year from July, we are privledged to have these majestic whales swim along our shores on their way south for feeding.
Continuing along the coast will bring you to the Western Capes Garden route. From Heidleburg to Storms Rivers, the delights of this route are plenty. Enjoy natural scenery at its best, ride the Outeniqua Choo Tjoe (yes, a steam train) from George to Knysna. Bountiful adventure tourism, including the world's highest bungi jump at Bloukrans River and to contrast this all, local art flourishes in the area.
