CAPE POINT
Often mistakenly thought to be the most southern point of Africa, Cape Point is actually the most south-western point. A wild and rugged peninsular jutting out into the sea, Cape Point has seen countless ships sink in its waters. Forming part of the Table Mountain National Park, it is a protected area and wild life roams freely in the park. Watch out for the cheeky baboons determined to steal your lunch! An uphill stroll will take you to the old light house - or more easily, a funicular ride. Even in summer a jacket is recommended here - the Cape winds can howl over the top. Looking south from here the formidable Atlantic and Indian Ocean can be seen - some say they can even see the meeting point on certain days. If you don't take your own picnic to Cape Point, the Two Oceans Restaurant at the base of the funicular serves great seafood.
